The bureau of health in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recognized as an advanced unit successfully fighting the COVID-19 pandemic at an award ceremony held by the province on Jan 8.
A total of 513 individuals and 299 units were awarded the advanced title for their outstanding efforts and achievements in fighting the virus.
Provincial officials said that the pandemic is continuing to spread worldwide, and the province is still promoting pandemic prevention and control while also pushing social and economic growth.
It is expected that the awarded individuals and units will continue to make contributions to the province's development, they said.
