The Guiyang Traditional Chinese Medicine (Ethnic Medicine) Forum was held on April 24 at Guiyang International Eco-Conference Center in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The forum aimed to promote and innovate TCM culture and promote the high-quality development of the TCM sector in Guiyang. It attracted the participation of around 100 people, including TCM experts, scholars and practitioners.

Liang Xianquan, director of Guiyang Bureau of Health, said at the forum that Guiyang city should lay equal emphasis on Chinese and Western medicines and promote the integration of both. It should also strengthen academic exchanges and TCM research to promote and achieve innovation in the sector.

At the forum, Chen Yuanwei, a Chinese folk medicine doctor, spoke about TCM's challenges and opportunities in the new era.

A representative of Yao medicine (originating from the Yao ethnic group) introduced the medical branch's characteristics and advantages. Meanwhile, a specialist of Miao medicine (originating from the Miao ethnic group) discussed the development status of Miao medicine from the perspective of Chinese history.

Du Yuanxiang, an inheritor of Yi medicine (originating from the Yi ethnic group), demonstrated painless tooth extraction, impressing the forum's participants.
