The Guiyang Bureau of Health held the first session of the 2021 training course on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technologies that are safe, effective, low-cost, and easy to learn for key professionals in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 15.
The move was to strengthen the construction of Chinese medicine professional teams in Guiyang and Guian New Area, integrate the TCM sector into the reform of the medical and health system, and promote the inheritance and innovation of TCM in Guiyang and Guian New Area.
To ensure that the training achieves expected goals, Ge Bing, deputy director of Guiyang Bureau of Health, suggested raising understanding, being practical, and strengthening management.
He said that the training is a measure taken in response to current major problems in the development of TCM and is an effective way to improve the TCM service capacity. All trainees should attend the training on time and listen carefully. The organizers shouldn't slack when it comes to the registration of trainees and should strictly enforce the post-training examination system.
He expressed hope that all trainees would learn and master skills through training, and promote and apply suitable TCM technologies so as to provide better TCM services to the public.
Dong Fuhui, a famous national-level TCM doctor, was invited to give lectures on pizhen (a new type of needle with a blade on the needle) acupuncture therapy.
Unlike acupotomy, pizhen acupuncture therapy is safer because it works on the fascia layer above the muscle layer.
Dong solved problems such as inability to squat, inability to raise the upper arm, and lumbar spondylosis for a few patients through on-site clinical demonstrations at the training session.
