The health commission of Southwest China's Guizhou province recently issued a plan to allow the exchange of medical examination results between different medical institutions, county-level medical communities and clinic alliances.

By the end of 2021, it is expected that 80 percent of them will be able to mutually recognize medical examination results in the province, and by the end of 2022 that will extend to all of them.

As a result, it is envisaged that medical resources will be more effectively utilized and medical examination procedures will be simplified, which in turn will improve the overall quality of medical services.

The initiative covers medical examinations and medical image examinations results. As Guizhou's medical examination capabilities improve, it is anticipated that more medical examination results will be brought into the program.

All the medics of the medical institutions joining it will receive standardized training and evaluations and the bodies at all levels will move to establish a system for intractable case discussions and group consultations for medical examinations.

The province's medical groups and county-level medical communities will also establish a quality control system, to coordinate technical resources and manage medical examinations and medical image examinations.

When medical examinations results can't be exchanged and more medical examinations are needed, doctors will be required to explain this to the patients and their families, so as to obtain their consent for reexaminations.

Medical institutions will construct information systems centered around electronic medical records, so that the medical examination results will be efficiently stored, transported and shared.

Relying on the remote medical service systems, medical institutions above a secondary level are expected to provide medical examination and diagnosis services to other medical institutions, to share medical resources.
