The Guizhou Commission of Health recently issued reminders for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control, with activities for tomb-sweeping ritual sweeping and spring trips are increasing due to the upcoming Tomb Sweeping Day.

To reduce potential risks brought by increasing people's movements and due to the recent frequent occurrence of infections in China, the Guizhou Commission of Health is advocating that people in Southwest China's Guizhou province perform their tomb-sweeping ritual in a safer way – so as to do a good job in self-protection and strictly abide by the pandemic prevention policies of Guizhou.

Tomb Sweeping Day, which falls on fourth or fifth day of fourth lunar month in Chinese lunar calendar, is an important traditional festival in China to express condolences and cherish the memory of ancestors.

The commission is encouraging online sacrifice and memorial ceremonies and doing memorial activities at home. For those choosing to worship ancestors outdoors, it advocates reduced gatherings as much as possible, with more cleaning and disinfections.

The public is being advised to always wear masks correctly, maintain a safe social distance and for people to pay attention to personal hygiene and their own health status. If there are any symptoms, people should report it to their communities, seek medical treatment and carry out self-isolation immediately.

People are also being advised not to go to cities with the medium and high-risk areas, unless it is necessary.

It's recommended that those who need to travel outside Guizhou pay close attention to the recent domestic pandemic situation, understand the pandemic policies of the destinations in advance, plan the travel routes reasonably, perform personal protection responsibilities, and actively cooperate with health monitoring and nucleic acid testing.

People returning to Guizhou from other places need to undergo isolated medical observation, health tests and nucleic acid testing in accordance with the current pandemic prevention policies of Guizhou.
