The Guiyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assembled 20 medics from Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on May 3 to go to Beijing to assist in the fight against the new wave of COVID-19.

The move is in response to a call on May 1 from Chaoyang district's center for disease control and prevention in Beijing, which is an intercity partner department of Guiyang CDC.

The 20 medics consist of 16 experienced epidemiological investigators and four nucleic acid sampling and testing workers.

At the farewell ceremony, Liang Xianquan, director of the Guiyang Bureau of Health, urged all medics traveling to Beijing to protect themselves, prevent nosocomial infections, and work hard to complete their medical aid and epidemic prevention and control tasks.
