The city of Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – are currently facing a severe and complex situation in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 outbreak.

To help guarantee the daily necessities of their residents, one supplier – the Guiyang Agricultural Product Logistics Park – is sending Guiyang about 9,000 metric tons of vegetables per day, while Guiyang has got 1,168 tons of meat from it.

Currently, logistics park owner Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group's 50,000 mu (3,333.33 hectares) of fields under cultivation alone can supply more than 660 tons of fresh vegetables – such as chili peppers, Chinese cabbages and turnips – to the areas every day.

The group can also supply 80 tons of eggs and 450 tons of milk, 150 tons of rice and 200,000 steamed buns and steamed stuffed buns per day.

From Sept 1, the group has coordinated for more than 6,000 tons of vegetables per day to be sent to Guiyang's markets, especially the vegetables with the biggest consumer demand.

Guiyang has 20,300 tons of processed grain under reservation and 29, 900 tons of marketable grain reservation. Guiyang's 100 people-benefit supermarkets are restocking their agricultural and sideline products every day and selling them at standard prices.

All residents under static management can buy their daily necessities online, using a door-to-door delivery service. At present, Guiyang says it has a sufficient vegetable supply and is calling on all the residents not to hoard food.
