The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – started an assessment of COVID-free residential communities on Sept 13 and four days later, it had received applications from 865 residential communities, 166 of which were officially recognized as such.
The 166 COVID-free residential communities are mainly located in Nanming district and Xiuwen county, with a total of 528,255 residents. It is understood that more residential communities in the Yunyan, Huaxi and Wudang districts will soon get recognition.
In COVID-free resident communities, residents are not required to stay at home, supermarkets can open for business with a limited number of customers and the restaurants can open without an eat-in service.
Plans are for Guiyang to encourage more residential communities to become COVID-free, so that residents can take a walk and relax in their communities and buy daily necessities.
The COVID-free residential communities disinfect public areas and clear domestic waste regularly. Residents are required to follow pandemic prevention and control rules, wear masks and maintain a social distance from each other.
