The Guiyang Bureau of Health recently arranged for experienced staff members of the First People's Hospital of Guiyang to offer online health consultation services to residents in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, through the Guiyang Internet Health Service Platform.

The move was launched on Sept 13 to meet residents' need for health consultations on diseases during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

The hospital has arranged for two pediatricians, one physician, one psychiatrist, two general practitioners, and one otolaryngologist to serve the online medical service.

They have provided treatment methods and medication suggestions for home care of newborns with colds, fever, cough, dysentery, reducing unnecessary hospital visits during the epidemic. Suggestions on how to use medicines for common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases have also been offered.

Currently, the Guiyang Internet Health Service Platform is in normalized operation, and the Guiyang Bureau of Health will add new medical personnel according to demand.

According to the bureau, the platform is an online diagnosis and treatment service platform developed by the city's public medical institutions, which mainly carries out medical appointments, health consultations, chronic disease prescription renewals, family doctor signings, and health education.

Local residents can search for the Guiyang Internet Health Service Platform in the WeChat applet and log into the platform to consult with professional doctors online.
