Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranked 24th in the list of 2021 health model cities recently announced by the Office of the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.
The office evaluated all 407 cities and districts across China, with 31 districts and cities included in the health model city list of the cities and provinces in which they are located.
This is the second time that Guiyang has been included in the list since it became one of the nation's 38 pilot health cities in 2016, the only one in Guizhou.
In 2017, Guiyang began efforts to become a national health city.
To become a health city, cities must improve their planning, construction and management, enhance their natural and social environment and health services, promote healthy lifestyles, meet the health needs of residents, and realize the healthy and coordinated development of urban construction and human health.
Guiyang has formed a group to lead the health city development, issued supporting policies to promote the deep integration of mass health with other sectors in the city's development, and promoted health culture in communities, hospitals, schools, families, enterprises, public institutions and enterprises.
