Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, started implementing inhalable COVID-19 vaccination on Dec 10.

The first batch of inhalable vaccines became available to about 4,900 people. Local residents can register at 33 vaccination sites in districts of Yunyan, Nanming, Wudang, Guanshanhu, and Qingzhen county-level city.

Gao Lan, an official of Guiyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that the inhalable vaccine has the same formula as the CanSino biological adenovirus vector vaccine (1 shot of vaccine), and the dose used is one-fifth of the original CanSino biological adenovirus vector vaccine.

The inhalable vaccination is only suitable for booster immunization and for those over 18 years old. This vaccine is not available to people who are allergic to the vaccine components, people with fevers, people with chronic diseases, and pregnant women.

People who have received immunization from inactivated vaccine or adenovirus vector vaccine also cannot choose inhalable vaccination.

The inhalable vaccination process is the same with the other COVID-19 vaccinations. People should stay for 30 minutes for medical observation after vaccination and those without adverse reactions can leave.
