By the end of 2022, 42.21 million people in Southwest China's Guizhou province, over 95 percent of the local population, had joined the country's medical insurance system, an increase of 67,600 people over 2021, according to a meeting on Guizhou's healthcare security held in the provincial capital of Guiyang on Feb 21.
The revenue of the medical insurance fund was 65.01 billion yuan ($9.44 billion) last year, while the expenditure was 53.64 billion yuan.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Guizhou Provincial Healthcare Security Administration has made great progress in collecting medical funds, reducing inflated prices of drug consumables, promoting the reform of payment methods, and improving the convenience of services.
In the five years to come, it will continue to improve the financing and treatment adjustment mechanism of basic medical insurance, promote the overall planning of basic medical insurance at the provincial level, improve the serious illness insurance and medical assistance system, normalize the centralized procurement of drug consumables, dynamically adjust the drug list and the price of medical service items, and optimize medical insurance public services.
