The Guizhou branch of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital was unveiled in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Feb 24. It is the first national regional medical center in the province.
The branch is expected to improve Guizhou's medical treatment capacity and quality. Over the past six months, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital has dispatched 34 experts to Guizhou, opened seven sub-specialized clinics, and introduced 96 new technologies, which have been used to treat 334 patients.
The dispatched experts carried out 365 operations for difficult and complicated diseases, attracting 950 patients from 30 provinces and municipalities to Guizhou.
Beijing Jishuitan Hospital is a first-class hospital specializing in orthopedics. It is the only orthopedic specialist training center in the Chinese mainland that has passed the joint certification of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Hong Kong College of Orthopedic Surgeons.
It has ranked first in the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University's ranking of the national reputation of orthopedics for 13 years.
"The Guizhou branch is Beijing Jishuitan Hospital's first national regional medical center. We will turn it into the fourth hospital area in our hospital," said Jiang Xieyuan, director of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital.
Jiang said that the hospital will not only bring technology from national medical centers to Guizhou, but will also share its experience in education, scientific research and management to better protect public health in Southwest China.
