A vehicle loaded with medical equipment departed from Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, for Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on March 1.

The vehicle belongs to the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (FAH-SYSU), and it transported medical equipment and experts to Guiyang to conduct free consultations for vertigo patients. The experts from the hospital will also train doctors in Guiyang on how to diagnose and treat vertigo patients.

Huang Haiwei, executive director of the east division of FAH-SYSU, introduced that the vehicle is equipped to be a one-stop comprehensive diagnosis and treatment platform covering vestibular, hearing and vestibular rehabilitation in vertigo diagnosis and treatment.

This platform has the most complete vestibular, auditory and balance examination technology in the field of vertigo and balance disorder diagnosis. It can complete a full set of examinations and evaluations, form a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment report along with recommendations, and formulate individualized diagnoses and treatment plans.

Next, the vehicle will go to East China's Fujian province and Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to carry out free medical services and science popularization activities.

The east division of FAH-SYSU established its Vertigo Center in March 2018 to promote the standardized prevention and treatment of vertigo-related diseases and relevant specialty development. The center was also built to improve the hospital's capacity for primary medical services. So far, the center has treated more than 30,000 vertigo cases and completed nearly 10,000 vestibular audiology evaluations.
