Guiyang establishes bureau of disease control, prevention

The Guiyang Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention was established in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on May 24. 

Lou Guo, Party secretary of Guiyang Bureau of Health, said the new bureau can not only better respond to public health emergencies, but also conform to the new trend of health development and meet the latest needs in terms of people's healthcare. 

The Guiyang Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention will coordinate the reform of the disease control system and the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, improve the surveillance system for infectious disease epidemics and public health emergencies, establish an intelligent early warning mechanism, and continuously improve the prevention and control response capabilities of major epidemics and public health emergencies. 

The bureau will also improve the disease prevention and control system and contribute to the development of a healthy Guiyang.
